-So nice to see that the Norwegians finally have begun to cross the borders, trying for for victories in the show ring. Because their dogs certainly deserve it! And it is quite funny really when I get Swedish phone calls, like after yesterday's show with bewildered voices asking me to explain which "unknown" Norwegian dog won and what happened...
It is so easy and convenient for people in Norway to steer their cars onto the Swedish motorways too, instead of (or in addition to) climbing the mountain passes of Norway in some eight or nine hours rides through snow and ice. I personally would like to show in Bergen on the west coast in the beginning of April- but my car just would not hold for all eventualities such a journey might bring. And my better equipped sons with their wonder machines are not totally understanding when it comes to the purpose of such a journey...
Skiiing- yes- but some hour in the ring with an eight- hours drive to and fro- no, no, no!
But I do hope that this international success in the show rings for the Norwegians will mean that more people start taking an interest to show going here. I mean, it is a great pity that many of the pet cockers I trim ( or rather clip) into a short cut "sport's style" at the salon are of a far higher quality than many of the specimen we see in the show rings...(abroad).
Why are people not so keen? Well just look at my own change of life style! We work VERY hard during weeks here, the traffic is severe and very tiresome and the offers of activities in the week ends are just so great and so varied in this lovely country.
In the meantime- I am pleased that my fellow countrymen are making the foreign show-scenes unsafe.
Because the sport needs some fresh input!
